A ceremony was conducted by Texas Scots and descendants of the Republic of Texas, honoring Scots who fought at the battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836. The cannon is a replica of two guns called “the Twin Sisters” which were donated to the Texas cause by the citizens of Cincinnati in 1836.

Hazucha (LCDR, CEC, USN, Ret.) administering the Oath of Office to newly promoted LCDR Jonathan Channell, USN at Bertram Park, Pensacola, Florida on Labor Day weekend 2008. LCDR Channell, a friend, neighbor and F/A18 pilot, then the Flag Secretary to COMTHIRD FLEET in San Diego, CA officially requested that LCDR Hazucha do the honors in Scottish attire. LCDR Channell is now attached to VFA 131 on board the USS Eisenhower (CVN-69) on station in the Mid-East.
