RC Fran McVey served in VP-50 on two overseas tours and was the Tactical Coordinator of Crew 11 in 1971-72. Post member Dave Hall was a pilot on Crew 11 in 1972. In March 1991, two P-3C Orions, both from Patrol Squadron 50, collided off the cast of Southern California while affecting an on-station swap during anti-submarine warfare training. The twenty-seven men in crews 2 and 11 were killed. There is a permanent memorial at Moffett Field listing all of their names |
