On Nov. 28th several of our members took part in the Military Family Support Group packing for the troops. By the time the evening was over, we had packed over 500 boxes. I want to especially thank our Coast Guard member Erin Redpath and her mother Pat Redpath for baking and packing 100 containers of cookies to be included in the packages. Erin also got the kids from her former school, 6th, 7th and 8th graders to do 300 plus greeting cards to be in the packages. One young man did 100 cards himself. Thank you Erin for doing so much for our deployed people while you were home on leave recovering from knee surgery.

December 7th Post 48 will be at the anchor and mast of the USS Arizona for the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day to honor those remaining from that fateful day in 1941. We are always more than happy to go out and honor our distinguished veterans who have always led the way for the rest of us.

I want to take this time to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May this new year bring you lots of new friends and good health.
—Yours Aye, Dick Collis, CO, Post 48

Post 1775: Since the last Patriot, Post 1775 has been on the road doing Color Guard duties and recruiting for new membership.

September saw the Post in Charleston, SC for the first time working the Highland Games at Boone Hall Plantation. October found us in Red Springs, NC, attending the Flora McDonald Highland Games. The Waxhaw Highland Games finished up the month of October and the following week our final Highland Game event found us in Hendersonville, NC with frost on the pumpkin doing Color Guard Duties for Foothills Highland Games.

The finale for the Post was a trip to Moorehead City, NC for the Veterans Day Parade, which happens to be the largest Veterans Day Parade in the state of North Carolina. Since September, Post 1775 has spent roughly 1700 miles away from our Charlotte, NC home .We look forward to our annual Christmas Party to be held this year in the home of Harry and Jean Woodmansee, in the quaint town of Bishopville, SC.

Post 1813: Since our last report in the spring, we have participated in a number of events, making our presence known in the Community.

In May, We continued our annual tradition of presenting a SAMS medal and certificate to deserving ROTC cadets and middies at The Ohio State University, one each to the Army, Air Force and Navy Programs. We had two vehicles in the Worthington Memorial Day parade, PC Leaver’s motorcycle and Adj. McFee’s truck. We drew a number of cheers and tears as the spectators read the signs on the truck saying “Mommy’s in Iraq” along with a picture of deployed member MAJ Jodie McFee. The kids rode in the back along with dad Jerry Rees and other members.

We held our election of officers at our quarterly meeting in June. Our Post served as Color Guard for the Ohio Scottish Games. We performed those duties with the extra ‘touch’ of VC Morrison losing his kilt. Thank goodness for long shirts.

In July outgoing PC Leaver was under the weather, so incoming PC McFee, Adj. Rees and Chaplain Palmer made the trek to London, OH for an impromptu change of command ceremony.

We attended and our pipers played in October at the Welcome Home Ceremony for the 237 RAOC after a 14 month deployment. We now have MAJ Jodie McFee back in the fold and she has assumed her new duties as XO of the OHARNG Recruiting Bn.

November, we piped in the colors at the annual Dining Out for the OHARNG Recruiting Battalion. This is our fourth year and it has become one of our traditions. We took part in the Columbus Veterans’ Day Parade. This year we were able to add to our convoy a 1942 Jeep, courtesy of member Jack Buchanan. It was ably operated by
