Boyd O. McNeil, Jr

    Clover, S.C. - Boyd O. McNeil, Jr. passed away at Lake Wylie Assisted Living in Clover, South Carolina on January 16, 2019.

    Boyd was the first of three boys born to Boyd and Betty Gephart McNeil. He was born June 25, 1924 in New Richmond, Indiana.

    After High School, Boyd joined the Army and became a member of Patton's 3rd Army-253rd Field Artillery Battalion-in Europe. He was in the Battle of the Bulge, Central Europe, Rhineland and Northern France.

    He married Ida May "Marie" Fletcher on March 13, 1948. They had been married 56 years when Marie passed away on October 14, 2004. Also preceding him in death are His Parents, Sister-in-law Annette, Brother John William and Brother Edwin Lee.

    He is survived by Sister-in-law, Patricia of Lafayette, Indiana, Son, Boyd III (Rita) of Royal Center, Indiana, Daughter, Mavourneen Gay (Bubba) of Clover, South Carolina, Son, John Lee (Suzie) of Pflugerville, Texas, Grandchildren, Matt (Melissa), Carla Schwalm (Dan), Sara Bennett (Chad), Rodney Walker (Emma) and Alisha Lynch. Great Grandchildren, Abby, Katie and Will Walker, Connor McNeil, Liam Lynch, Harvey, John and George Schwalm, Nephews, Nieces and Cousins.

    Boyd was a Lifetime member of the Tri State Gun Club, The NRA, Scottish American Society and The American Legion. He was also a member of Clan McNeil.

    A family visitation will be Sunday, January 20, 2019 at M. L. Ford Funeral Home, in Lake Wylie, South Carolina. Interment will be Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Fort Mitchell, Alabama.

    We are very thankful and appreciative for the staff of Agape Hospice for their wonderful care you gave our Father. We would also like to thank, from the bottom of our hearts, Danielle of Lake Wylie Assisted Living. Your care for our Father went above and beyond.
