Kenneth Elmer Cloaninger

    Kenneth Elmer Cloaninger, 74, of Mooresville, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.

    He was born in Mooresville, NC, son of the late Lewis and Leslie Shoemaker Cloaninger. Mr. Cloaninger was a veteran serving in the US Air Force. He was with the NC State Highway Patrol as a telecommunicator for 8 ½ years. He received his Advanced Law Enforcement Degree and was employed with the Cornelius Police Department for 1 ½ years. Mr. Cloaninger later retired from the Iredell County Sheriff Department, where he served as a DARE officer for the Iredell County Schools. He was a member of the Mooresville Masonic Lodge #496 AF& AM, Scottish American Military Society, and Blue Knights Chapter of the Patriot Guard. Mr. Cloaninger was also a member of Triplett United Methodist Church in Mooresville.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Grady Cloaninger.

    He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Norma Harrison Cloaninger; children, David L. Cloaninger, Kimberly C. Jones and husband, Duncan; and grandchildren, Kenneth R. and Peyton Cloaninger, and Blake Jones.

    The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 27 from 10:00-11:00 AM with a service following at 11:00 AM at Triplett United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Richard “Rick” Auten officiating. Burial will follow the service at 3:00 PM at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro.
