Gene Douglas McDonough

    Passed away 28 October 2016 in Maumee, Ohio. Gene was a 1969 graduate of Bassett HS in La Puente, California. He was a graduate of California State University, Fullerton, where he studied geography, and also a graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Gene was a member of MENSA, Phi Theta Kappa, and SAMS.

    He served in the Army and the Navy during the Vietnam war. He continued his military service, retiring from the Army. Not satisfied with that distinction, he was involved, with the Ohio Military Reserve, and was a Major in the Michigan Volunteer Defense Force.

    His professional career involved computers. He started as a payroll data procession technician. He worked as a computer programmer at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, CA; Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in Dallas, TX; General Motors in Detroit, MI, Environment Data Resources in Fairfield, CT. He became a Data Base Administrator and worked in that capacity at IBM, CSC, and Designer Shoe Warehouse.

    Gene loved to travel, visiting all 50 states and took many trips through the Caribbean and Mexico. Although Gene and Ann had been married 31 years, they had known each other for more than 50 years.
